Booking A Tour

Annapolis By Bike - This 12-mile ride is tailored for people of varying abilities, with stops about every five-to-ten minutes, so that riders can catch their breath at a wide-range of interesting venues. The four hour ride begins at 9AM and ends back at the starting point at 1PM.  We will stop for about twenty minutes at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts about half-way through the tour where there are bathrooms and vending machines.  We will also be passing by numerous food establishments during the tour where we can briefly stop if so requested. (The tour price does not include any food & drink purchased along the way.)

If you have your own bike, the cost for the tour is $30.

Bike Rentals -- You can rent a nice, brand new, comfortable bike that is very easy to operate from Capital Bicycle.  The bike and helmet will be delivered to the starting point.  The bike will be fitted specifically for your weight and height.   You will also receive a commemorative Specialized water bottle.

The cost for renting a bike is $45.
The cost for renting a bike + guided tour is $75.

If you are bringing your own bike, we ask that you make sure it has been serviced, is fully operational, and the tires are inflated properly.  We also remind you to bring a helmet and water bottle.

We are flexible and if a group would like a longer or more ambitious ride, we can tailor the tour to fit your need.  For instance, we can add more miles and include stops at Bay Ridge, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Arundel-on-the-Bay, Back Creek Nature Park, and Quiet Waters Park.  Or, if you would like to do a shorter ride, we can make that happen too.  The cost of the tour will increase or decrease, based on the additional or deleted stops and will be negotiated based on specific itinerary.

Special private charters are also available so you can ride only with your group.

Schedule

Annapolis by Bike will be offering bicycle tours of Annapolis on Saturdays and Sundays, depending on the weather, and resuming a more regular shedule in the spring of 2012.

Call Steve at (443) 822-8871 or e-mail Steve at  annapolisbybike@gmail.com  to check on availability.

Parking

Each trip begins at the Calvert Street Garage. Take the main Annapolis exit off Route 50 onto Rowe Boulevard.  Cross the Weems Creek Bridge.  Go through the next two traffic lights (Farragut Avenue & Taylor Avenue) and then you will cross the College Creek Bridge.  A few hundred feet after the bridge, Rowe Boulevard forks.  Stay straight and the road name changes to Bladen Street.  Go to the first traffic light and turn left onto Calvert Street.  Go one block and turn left onto St. Johns Street.  The entrance into the parking garage is on your left.  The garage is free on weekends but it operates on a first come/first served basis.  It is highly unlikely the garage will be filled on a Saturday or Sunday morning, but we can not guarantee parking.  If you have brought your own bike and helmet, please off-load in the garage and then meet us on St. Johns Street in front of the garage.  If you are renting a bike, please meet us in the same location and your bike will be waiting for you.  If you are riding or walking from some other location, the trips still lead from the Calvert Street Garage.  On Fridays, the garage charges an hourly rate for parking.

Group rates and flexible starting times available.

For the adventurous at heart who would like to experience more than the ancient city, Annapolis By Bike can also custom design your very own bike ride of the areas outside Annapolis where excellent riding opportunities and scenic wonders abound.   Follow country roads through the rolling farmlands of South County's tobacco country and horse farm heaven; or ride the winding backcountry roads right along the Chesapeake Bay, passing through sleepy watermens villages and resort towns where the land of pleasant living can still be discovered.  The cost of this unique service is $25, which will include a road log and map.  Bike rentals and shuttles can be arranged, but are not included in the trip planning cost.
